It is no secret that unemployment is one of the major concerns of today's economies. Thousands of jobs are lost each day from all round the globe and adding fuel to the fire is the unpredictable job market which is at an all time low. With this in mind census 2011 data found that more than 20 percent of Indians in the 15-24 age group were jobless and are still seeking work.

In reality the 20 percent of the unemployed youths is surprisingly huge and it piles up to around 4.7 crore of the total population, in which 2.6 crore are men and 2.1 crore women. Even as economic growth has relatively been fair at over 8 percent per annum, the figures seem to reveal deep and pervasive unemployment in the job market.

Overall, the unemployment rate among the working class in the 15-59 age group was a worrying factor as it was projected at 14.5 percent, including marginal workers seeking work. In the 25-29 age group, the unemployment rate is 18 percent, and those among the 30-34 age group, the unemployment level is nearly 6 percent over 1.2 crore population.
